South African Wine Dinner

Take a journey to South Africa's winery country at Bacchus – A Bartolotta Restaurant on Wednesday, June 28.  Join us for an exciting evening to discover or rediscover wines from various vineyards in South Africa.

South Africa is considered a new world wine country but has a history of winemaking dating back 350 years. It is a country known for producing high-quality, complex, and intriguing wines that combine Old World and New World winemaking techniques. South Africans large landscape and biodiversity allow it to cultivate a wide range of grape varieties such as Pinotage, Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon are currently the most widely planted varietals in South Africa, but Pinotage is the only one that is unique to South Africa. Many of the wines produced are ripe and fruity with an earthly flavor due to the warmer climate.

The evening will feature a five-course meal paired with five South African varietals that will highlight the flavors and regional varietals that make South Africa a unique destination for wines. Katherine Camera, Regional Sales Manager for Broadbent Selections, will be the evening's special guest. She will share her knowledge and lead us through the wine pairing for the evening.

Join the team as Bacchus to transport yourself to the beautiful South African coast.
