Italian American Chamber of Commerce honors The Bartolotta Restaurants with the only recognition ever in the state of Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE – As The Bartolotta Restaurants continues to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its founding, the flagship restaurant, Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993, has recently been awarded the prestigious and coveted Marchio Ospitalità Italiana certification of excellence. One of the highest honors a restaurant can receive for its commitment to “Made in Italy” quality and authenticity, the certification recognizes Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993’s unwavering commitment to Italian cuisine and the “hospitality heart” that serves as the foundation for The Bartolotta Restaurants.

This award continues the recognition from Italy of Chef Bartolotta being an ambassador of food, wine, and Italian culture in the United States. Chef Bartolotta was previously awarded the Insegna del Ristorante Italiano del Mondo by Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, the President of Italy, in 1997 at the Quirinale Palace in Rome.

“This is an incredibly proud moment for Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993 and a testament to the dedicated work that our family of employees and Executive Chef Juan Urbieta have done to create a genuine Italian culinary experience,” says Chef Paul Bartolotta. “I would like to thank the Italian American Chamber of Commerce for this extraordinary recognition.

“Italian cooking, culture, and commitment to service runs through every facet of Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993. Chef Urbieta and his team are committed to producing the most authentic Italian experience possible for our guests. This is an unbelievable honor for the restaurant, and for The Bartolotta Restaurants.”

Founded in 1997, the Marchio Ospitalità Italiana certification is a prestigious acknowledgement that represents a seal of quality and authenticity, given to Italian restaurants around the world by the Italian Union of Chamber of Commerce and is supported by ISNART (Istituto Nazionale Ricerche Turistiche – The Chambers of Commerce for Tourism and Culture).

In a ceremony that took place in Chicago on October 23, 2023, Italian Consul Thomas Botzios presented Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993, Chef Bartolotta, and Chef Urbieta with the certification and the official plate of Ospitalità Italiana. Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993 is the only restaurant in the state of Wisconsin ever to be recognized.

Nestled in a historic brewery building in downtown Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993 – founded by brothers Paul and the late Joe Bartolotta – is acclaimed for its handmade pasta and upscale Italian cuisine in a cozy, intimate setting. In 2020 Executive Chef Urbieta launched the popular “Un Viaggio in Italia” menu series, highlighting a different region of Italy with a four-course, customizable menu that changes monthly. In May of 2023 the series shifted to highlight the cuisine of the most significant culinary cities throughout Italy which included Rome, Venice, Naples, Palermo, and Florence, and will begin serving Torino on November 30, showcasing Piemontese white truffles.

Executive Chef Urbieta studied under Chef Bartolotta at Chicago’s acclaimed Spiaggia, as well as Chef Valentino Marcattilli San Domenico in Imola, Italy, before joining The Bartolotta Restaurants as a line cook in 1998. Throughout Chef Urbieta’s tenure at Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993, the restaurant has been awarded four stars from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; has been recognized by DiRoNA (Distinguished Restaurants of North America); and has received Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence annually since 2003.

Ristorante Bartolotta dal 1993 is open seven days per week from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests can make reservations online at ristorantebartolotta.com or by calling 414.771.7910.
