Get to know Wente Vineyards – the oldest continuously operating family-owned winery in the United States – during our Wente Wine Dinner on Thursday, June 9 at Joey Gerard’s – Mequon.

Established in Livermore, California in 1883, Wente Vineyards is the oldest continuously operating family-owned winery in the United States. Now run by the fourth and fifth generations of the Wente family, they are regarded as the “first family of Chardonnay.”

Second-generation owner Ernest Wente brought Chardonnay cuttings from France in 1912. Today, Wente Vineyards’ clone “budwood” is used in over 75% of all Chardonnay grown in California.
