Dinner with Master Sommelier Larry O'Brien at Bacchus

To reach the top level of the sommelier trade – Master Sommelier - you must pass four arduous exams which include knowledge, theory, and tasting of wines. In over 40 years, only 230 people in the world have ever reached this level.

Larry O’Brien is a Master Sommelier with more than 20 years experience in the restaurant and wine industry including positions at two Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning establishments.

Join us as we welcome Master Sommelier Larry O’Brien to Bacchus on Thursday, May 19 for a special four course dinner featuring Jackson Estate Wines. It's not often that we have the opportunity to come face-to-face with a Master Sommelier!

Larry will tell us not only about the road to becoming one of 135 Master Sommeliers worldwide in 2001, but he’ll also speak to the depth and breadth of Jackson Family Fine Wines - small production wines which utilize many of California’s greatest cool, coastal mountain ridges and benchland soils in order to showcase some of the best winemaking has to offer.

Larry won the title “Best Sommelier in America” in 2000 and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2008. In addition, he’s served as a wine judge for multiple international competitions. When not immersed in in the world of wine, you will likely find Larry in a bowling alley working towards a 200 average and his first 300 game.

Executive Chef Nick Wirth has created a delightful menu to pair perfectly with Jackson Family Fine Wines.
