Position Summary:

The controller will directly supervise the day-to-day operations of the accounting team and will have primary oversight of the preparation of the monthly financial statements for all units of the Bartolotta Restaurant Group.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

He/she will:

  • Actively direct and oversee the preparation and issuing of financial statements, tax returns and supporting schedules as required by various ownership groups, municipalities and/or agreements (management, debt, etc.).
  • Support multiple restaurant operations in a wide range of accounting and financial reporting and analytical activities.
  • Recommend opportunities as necessary to ensure units meet or exceed targeted performance.
  • Work with units, accounting staff and executive team members to ensure sufficient controls, processes and procedures to: (a) maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and (b) produce accurate and timely financial information and (c) assist in developing and implementing efficiencies.

ESSSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Act as a financial resource on a consistent basis, collaborating with field personnel, department heads and accounting team in discovering creative solutions to improve overall business processes and performance.

Oversees accounting personnel, including training and development.

Direct the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and other schedules.

Assist with the development of new standard operating procedures (SOP’s).

Leverage systems to improve processes, condense closing cycle, and provide analysis.

Work collaboratively with field management staff on all finance and accounting related matters.

Oversees and ensures the effective performance of all accounting functions, including receivables, payables, revenue and financial reporting.

Implements and adheres to generally accepted accounting principles.

Creates and maintains accounting safeguards and protocols to ensure confidentiality and safety of accounting records and monetary resources.

Position Requirements:

Four-year Accounting degree required. CPA designation and/or advanced degree desired.

5-10 years Accounting/Finance experience.

Multi-unit, hospitality, real estate or service industry experience preferred.

Prior supervisory experience.

Working knowledge of financial statements and GAAP concepts.

Position Description:

  • Interview, hire, train and develop staff.
  • Insure proper paperwork is completed and submitted to HR Manager/Chef in timely manner.
  • Promote a team environment by example and by participating in workload completion when necessary.
  • Interact with employees in a sensitive, positive manner.
  • Understand and use Human Resources Policies and Procedures manual.

?  Requires prolonged periods of being on their feet ranging from 4 – 8 hours/shift.
?  Transport glasses/glass racks to and from kitchen between 25 - 50 pounds. 
?  Light/moderate lifting is required.
?  Position dictates working in a fast-paced environment and subject to irregular hours including late nights, early
    mornings, weekends and holidays.
 
Position Standards:
            Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency
            Experience: Prior experiences in a casual restaurant or prior Barista experiences preferred.

ABV Social - A Phoenix Hospitality Group restaurant located at the new Mayfair Collection in Wauwatosa is currently looking for a Kitchen Supervisor to join the management team.  
 
This position will be responsible for the effective daily operations of the kitchen. This includes staffing, recruitment, employee development, financial management and facilities management. Responsible for food preparation, food quality, speed and accuracy of the BOH team, product inventory, ordering and maintaining food costs. This position will also be responsible for closing the kitchen a minimum of three days a week.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Help control food costs and usage by following proper ordering and inventory guidelines.
  • Monitor menu content for effectiveness.
  • Manage product storage procedures, standard recipes and waste control procedures including checking and maintaining proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control systems.
  • Interact with external vendors to obtain the best quality in pricing and product.
  • Work closely with General Manager and Director of Operations for efficient kitchen operations.
  • Conduct daily line checks.
  • Participate in company meetings.
  • Act as company agent.
  • Maintain current and accurate reports.
  • Ensure staff performance meets quality service.
  • Manage personnel in an effective manner.
  • Ensure quality in service and product.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and uphold sanitation codes.

 
Education/Training Requirements:
 

  • Requires three-year’s experience in a kitchen management role in either a casual dining establishment or fast food concept.
  • Experience with cash handling and guest interaction.
  • Experience with information systems related to restaurant management and/or kitchen management.
  • Evening availability a must.
