Vince Halpin – Manager, Mr. B’s Steakhouse

When did you start working at Mr. B’s?
I started working at Mr. B’s in June of 2014. Right in time for patio season.

What did you do before working there?
I started working for the company in the summer of 2012 as an intern at Lake Park Bistro. Once I graduated from UW-Stout, I began working at Northpoint Custard as a supervisor. When the Northpoint season ended, I was bartending at Joey Gerard’s in Greendale and hosting at The Rumpus Room. I’ve had the great fortune of working at a lot of Bartolotta locations.

What are some of the most popular dishes your guests order at Mr. B’s?
The most popular dish has to be our Classic Filet with Rosemary Roasted Potatoes and a side of our Brandy Peppercorn sauce. I would have to say that the Scallops are right up there, as well. The preparation changes seasonally, so throughout the year, you get to see different variations of the dish. 

What is your favorite dish?
For me, the perfect meal would start off with a Shrimp Cocktail, super classic and delicious. For my entree, I’m getting the Prime Bone- in Ribeye, loaded baked potato and a side of roasted Brussels sprouts. For ‘dessert’ 2oz of Buffalo Trace bourbon with a couple of ice cubes.

What do you like to do when not taking care of guests at Mr. B’s?
Spending time with my fiancé is most important to me when I’m not at the restaurant. Currently, we are planning our wedding and it’s taking up a lot of our time and is really exciting. When we get the chance, we like to go back to my hometown of Prairie du Chien and visit family and friends. My mom lives out in Denver, Colorado so if I can, I try to make it out there to visit her.
