Event Recap: The Chef Event 2018

April 19, 2018

The first Chef Event held in partnership with Milwaukee Magazine in 2017 was a giant hit, selling out in less than two weeks. We were so thrilled to get the opportunity again this year to highlight Milwaukee chefs and their cuisine in our beautiful downtown venue, Downtown Kitchen at the U.S. Bank Building, for a second Chef Event on Wednesday, April 18.

The Milwaukee food scene continues to grow, with many new concepts being introduced to the area on a regular basis. While the city continues its renaissance, restaurants and their chefs are stepping up their game to offer creative cuisine to eager locals and tourists alike. The Chef Event is a special evening where chefs can come together to show off their culinary talent while guests revel in the delight of our robust local dining scene.

Paul Bartolotta, two-time James Beard award-winning Chef and Co-owner of The Bartolotta Restaurants, was in attendance, creating two special dishes for guests to taste. The dishes he selected were representative of the group’s flagship Ristorante Bartolotta, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Cooking alongside Chef Bartolotta were a group of talented chefs from all over the city, including Bartolotta alum, Dane Baldwin, who recently opened his own outpost - The Diplomat on Brady Street.

The evening featured a signature cocktail from Bacchus - A Bartolotta Restaurant, or a glass of wine from sponsor EJ Gallo, with a cheese board from Downtown Kitchen. Guests were invited to taste eight different bites from the following restaurants: DanDan, The Diplomat, Ristorante Bartolotta, Sanford, Goodkind, Third Coast Provisions, Tre Rivali, and The Cheel. Afterward, publisher Carol Nicksin hosted a panel discussion with the chefs to chat about the ever-evolving restaurant scene in Milwaukee. The night was capped off with dessert from Pastry Chef Courtney Allison of Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro

We are so thankful for all of the guests who came to enjoy the second annual Chef Event and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Milwaukee Magazine to celebrate Milwaukee’s culinary scene. We are proud to be a part of the growth of the culinary talent in our city. See you next year!
