REGIONAL ITALIAN FESTIVALS AT RISTORANTE BARTOLOTTA
During the great success of last year’s weekly regional festivals, we have decided that we will run the festivals for one MONTH each!
LOMBARDIA & MILAN May Sharing a border with the Swiss Alps, beef and dairy products are very important to Lombardia. Cheeses include Bitto, mascarpone, Tellagio and stracchino. This is also one of the world’s largest areas for rice production, so of course risotto is popular. In the stylish city of Milan, elegant designer food can be found, and the “panino” have reached great quality levels.
LA CUCINA DEL SAN DOMENICO DI IMOLA “An homage to the food of Chef Valentino Marcatilli” June In the region of Emilia Romagna, in the province of Bologna, lies the town of Imola, with a population of 60,000. Here can be found one of the best restaurants in all of Italy; the Michelin 2 star Ristorante San Domenico, owned by chef Valentino Marcatilli.
In the Bartolotta Restaurants, when you hear Chefs Paul, Adam or Juan talking about the “maestro,” they are referring to Valentino. He trained under one of Italy’s greatest chefs for seven years, and in many ways, Bartolotta Restaurants trace our roots back to him. Now, Ristorante Bartolotta chef Juan Urbieta is proud and honored to offer some of the dishes he learned at this great restaurant.
ITALIAN COASTAL SEAFOOD July As one of the longest “peninsula nations” Italy is almost all coastline. Only 5 of its 19 regions do not have access to the sea. Therefore, it is no surprise that great seafood is an important part of Italy’s cuisine and that there is no shortage of great Italian seafood recipes.
If you have been fortunate to have dined at Paul Bartolotta’s Bartolotta Ristorante di Mare, you have seen and tasted how great this cuisine can be. Ristorante Bartolotta chef Juan Urbieta was part of Paul’s opening team, and he has a passion for simply prepared, very fresh seafood dishes. We encourage you to join us this warm month and try some great, light seafood!

MR. B’s BRINGS “THE BEEFSTEAK” TO BROOKFIELD! “All You Can Eat, Silverware Optional”
In January, 2008 the New York Times did a feature article about a richly historic New York tradtion that started over a century ago. In the mid 1800’s, special “Beefsteak” dinners were held as political fundraisers. Primarily for men, photos survive showing the attendees dressed in their best tuxedos, complete with white aprons and chef hats. The aprons were necessary, for the meal was served without silverware. Course after course was served, and gluttony was encouraged.
Since 2001, top New York chef Waldy Malouf has revived the original tradition at his signature Manhattan restaurant, Beacon. We figured this idea would be popular in Wisconsin, so Mr. B’s Chef Brent Perszyk is proud to present his special menu, designed to be eaten by hand (and yes, we have aprons for you!). The food is all-you-can-eat, and we also include the first round of beer in a special logoed 20 oz. mug that is yours to keep as a souvenir.
Get a group together and call quickly – reservations are going fast! Who knows, this could even become a regular event. In the tradition of THE BEEFSTEAK, we challenge you to eat all you can hold.

BETH NICKEL of FAR NIENTE, NICKEL & NICKEL, and DOLCE
Exactly three years ago, we had one of our most successful wine dinners ever. It featured Beth Nickel, owner of THREE great Napa Valley wineries-Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel, and Dolce. While she was raised in Oklahoma, Beth was actually born in Wisconsin, and still has friends and family here. We like to count ourselves as friends, and since her event here, we have sent multiple groups of Bartolotta people to their beautiful properties to visit and taste her great wines “at the source.” This will be a special event, as Beth will feature some of the new releases from Nickel & Nickel. They are now making great Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zinfandel. We will of course have to finish with some Dolce, the first (and still the best!) winery devoted to late harvest wine.

A Bordeaux Winemaker Dinner DOMINIQUE ARANGOITS of CHATEAU COS D’ESTOURNEL
Only Bartolotta’s, unique in the Midwest, continually hosts the world’s greatest winemakers! We are very proud to continue this tradition with THE Grand Cru of Saint-Estephe and one of Bordeaux’s top ten wineries, Chateau Cos d’Estournel. Separated from prestigious Chateau Lafite Rothschild by only a narrow stream, it shares the same terroir and many of the same accolades. Chateau Cos d’Estournel is the first winery in Saint-Estephe by location and by quality.
This house was founded by Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel, who was also known as the “Maharajah of Saint-Estephe.” He first made wine in 1811, and sold many of his early vintages to India. He built his beautiful, distinctive winery with pagodas, a door from Zanzibar, and adopted the elephant as a symbol. During his tenure, his wine was adored by Queen Victoria, the Tsar of all the Russias, Napoleon III, Jules Verne and Karl Marx.
In 1917, the chateau was sold to the Ginestet family, whose descendents still run it today. The current head of the chateau, Jean-Guillaume Prats, is one of the most respected men in Bordeaux. After discussions lasting almost a year, Jean-Guillaume sends us his talented young winemaker, Dominique Arangoits, who has the title of Technical Director. Lake Park Bistro Chef Adam Siegel takes on the challenge of matching 5 great Chateau Cos d’Estournel wines, including three vintages of the Grand Cru wine.
A similar dinner in San Francisco last year sold for $350 per person, so we encourage you to take advantage of this rare opportunity to taste one of the world’s greatest wines matched with stellar French food.
Thursday, May 1 6:30 p.m. Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro Reservations: (414) 962-6300 $175 per person, plus tax and gratuity
