Dear friends, family, colleagues and community members,
Historically, our restaurant group has given a little to a lot. In 2009, we established a philanthropic arm for the Bartolotta Restaurants called Care-a-lotta. This program was created to thank our Milwaukee supporters and to extend a helping hand to other organizations that make a significant impact on the health, education and well-being of our community. In addition to a yearly financial contribution totaling more than $250,000 divided between many local organizations, Care-a-lotta is an outlet for our more than 1,000 Bartolotta Restaurant employees to share their service hearts through volunteerism.
Recently we've broadened our focus on philanthropy by celebrating highly creative and collaborative initiatives throughout the Greater Milwaukee area. We award worthy nonprofit organizations in three ways:
1. Project Spot-On
Each year, one nonprofit organization is chosen by our board and is put in the spotlight at our lakefront custard stand, Northpoint. The chosen group is able to utilize Northpoint to gets its mission and message out to our guests in a variety of ways. The featured organization for the 2013 season is Pathfinders Milwaukee, which is an organization dedicated to providing support, shelter, counseling and basic necessities to homeless and at-risk youth. All proceeds from the "Bedhead Lemonade" at Northpoint this summer will benefit Pathfinders.
2. Care-a-lotta Credit
Twice per year, the board reviews applications and chooses organizations to receive an allotted amount to spend on a special event within one of our units. (3) $10,000 (3) $5,000 and (3) $2,500 awards are given. Past winners have held a variety of events, from fundraisers to thank you events for donors.
3. Bartolotta Community Awards
Finally, every month, the Bartolotta Restaurants award (40) $100 gift certificates to nonprofit organizations through a lottery system. Interested organizations can apply at any time, but they'll be entered into the lottery the month prior to their special event or need.
As we continue to grow our philanthropic reach throughout the Milwaukee community, we will lean on our friends, family, colleagues and community to help us make the strongest impact possible. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for your support, encouragement and contribution.
Joe and Jennifer Bartolotta
